Gap Year Student - Medical Assistant
Full and Part Time Openings for a Medical Assistant at Dermatology Care of Alabama. Ideal candidate is a recent college graduate working a gap year as Pre-Med, Pre-PA or Nursing, or a current student with a flexible schedule. Certification opportunities are available.
Position Summary: We are seeking a dedicated and detail-oriented Medical Assistant to join our dynamic dermatology practice. The ideal candidate will provide exceptional patient care and support the clinical team in delivering high-quality dermatological services. You will play a key role in ensuring a smooth and efficient workflow within the practice, working closely with dermatologists, Nurse Practitioners, and Physician Assistants.
Key Responsibilities:

Patient Care:
-
Prepare patients for dermatological examinations and procedures.

Take and record vital signs, medical history, and other relevant information.

Assist during exams, biopsies, excisions, and other dermatological procedures.
-
Provide patients with pre- and post-procedure care instructions.
-
Ensure patient comfort and address any concerns or questions.

Clinical Support:
-
Prepare and maintain examination rooms, ensuring they are clean, well-stocked, and ready for patient appointments.

Assist in the preparation and administration of injections, including numbing agents and other medications as directed.

Perform basic wound care and dressing changes as needed.

Manage and prepare specimens for laboratory analysis, ensuring proper labeling and documentation.

Assist with phototherapy treatments and other specialized dermatology services.

Administrative Duties:
-
Maintain accurate and up-to-date patient records, including electronic health records (EHR).
-
Handle phone calls, patient inquiries, as assigned to the clinical team in a secure messaging portal.

Assist with outgoing patient referrals to other specialists or services.

Inventory and Equipment Management:
-
Monitor and maintain inventory of medical supplies and instruments.
-
Ensure that all medical equipment is properly sterilized and maintained.

Pay Range: $16-$18/Hour. Certification allowance is available.
