Dermatology Care of Alabama COVID-19 Update
Dermatology Care of Alabama is committed as always to the highest standards of
patient care and treatment. We want to update our patient community on our
guidelines currently in place that will ensure the safety and well being of our
patients as well as our staff. In addition, we are now offering our patients the ability
to schedule a TeleDerm appointment as an alternative to visiting our office in
Office Visits and Our Physical Distancing Guidelines
Our Staff is closely following the health and safety guidelines of the CDC for medical
practices. We want to update you on the latest guidelines we have put in place.
When you arrive for your appointment you will have the option to wait in your car
rather than the Patient Waiting area. If you choose to wait inside, you will be asked
to abide by the “six foot distance” rule advised by the Alabama Department of Public
Health. No more than 3 patients will be allowed to remain in our large Patient
Waiting area at one time. Patients arriving for radiation treatments will be taken to
a separate waiting area near your treatment room.
You will be asked by one of our clinical staff to wash your hands before entering the
No one will be allowed back in the exam room except the Patient who holds the
appointment. Please do not bring additional friends or family members to your
appointment. Minors may bring one Parent or Guardian. Our clinical staff will have
discretion in determining if a patient may have someone in the exam room with
them. This would apply to patients who require physical assistance.
If you have traveled out of state or out of the country recently we will ask that you
reschedule your appointment.
Coffee and/or soft drinks will temporarily not be available in the Waiting Area.
TeleDerm (TeleHealth) is Now Available By Appointment
We are so pleased to now offer our patients the option of scheduling a TeleDerm
appointment with Dr. Bentley, rather than coming to the office. You may call 205-
292-7034 or email and request a TeleDerm
appointment. The appointment may be conducted via phone, email or FaceTime.
We are so pleased many of the major insurance carriers (including Medicare) have
made it easier for our physician and clinical staff to utilize this option, which will
further help us protect our patients who are most vulnerable or too distant now to
hold their scheduled appointment.
TeleDerm scheduling priority will be given to:
1. Our patients who are 65 or older
2. University students who have had to return home or to their permanent address
and are unable to visit the Office.
Look For A Sign
And last but not least, we are so pleased that now it will be easier to find us in our
brand new office. New signs were installed last week facing Rice Mine Road and our
parking lot. We hope this will help you be better able to locate our new office.
We love our patients and we want to everything possible to make your visit with us
pleasant and especially safe. Please keep with us on our social media platforms on
Facebook (Dermatology Care of Alabama) and Instagram (@dermcarealabama) Stay
safe, check on your friends and neighbors and pray without ceasing. We are here for
